The outer port represents a clear boost for the tourist development of Ciutadella and Menorca and its construction is based on the utmost respect for the environment and landscape of the area, with the preservation of the environmental values ​​of the cove and with the urban integration of the dike and the port in the city.

This is a highly innovative port project designed to minimize visual impact.

The construction of the port in the outer area of ​​Cala Ciutadella has the main objective of improving the operability and safety of passenger and freight traffic, as well as adapting the interior of the cove for mooring and services of fishing and sports fleets.

It consists of a double breakwater, an outer one of 674,33 m and an inner one of 353,52 m. This double construction has, for the first time, allowed for an unobstructed view of the sea and a more human-scale engineering project. It also includes three piers: the first and longest, 150 m; a second, 116 m; and a third, 93,20 m.
