The measure establishes a transitional regime while the legal framework for the final bidding process for the authorizations is consolidated.

Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB), an entity dependent on the Ministry of the Sea and the Water Cycle of the Government of the Balearic Islands, has approved the regulation of the use of public ramps in ports and directly managed facilities for the 2026 season.

This decision responds to the increase in recent years in requests for the use of ramps, both for boat rental activities and for aquatic activities, in a context of limited availability of the port's public domain.

The new regulation is part of PortsIB's commitment to promoting economic activity in the ports, optimizing the management of public resources and ensuring competition in the provision of services, while working on the future public tender for authorizations to use ramps and other port spaces.

For the 2026 season, public ramps will be generally reserved for privately owned vessels (list 7), although certain exceptions are foreseen, such as vessels linked to public services, research, environmental protection, professional fishing or maintenance and repair activities.

In addition, on a temporary basis, companies that had authorization to use ramps for rental or water activities during 2025 may continue to develop their activity during 2026, with specific limitations, such as the use of a single ramp and the exclusion of certain types of boats.

The regulation also establishes measures to reinforce safety, such as the prohibition of passenger embarkation and disembarkation on ramps using auxiliary vessels.

With this action, PortsIB aims to guarantee an orderly, safe and efficient use of public ramps, while ensuring the continuity of economic activity linked to the nautical sector while the definitive award model is defined through public tender.
