Regional Minister Juan Manuel Lafuente visits the facilities to learn about the new phase of the port and the agreement between Marina Port Andratx and the Sailing Club to maintain sporting and educational activity.

The Minister of the Sea and Water Cycle of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Juan Manuel Lafuente, visited the Port d'Andratx facilities today accompanied by the mayor of the municipality, Estefanía Gonzalvo; the president of the Port d'Andratx Sailing Club, Neus Bou; the general director of Ports and Maritime Transport, Antoni Mercant; the manager of Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB), Kico Villalonga, and the sports director of the Club, Juanjo Beltrán.

During the visit, Lafuente was able to learn firsthand about the new stage that the port is beginning after the incorporation of Marina Port Andratx as the new concessionaire of the facilities and the agreement reached with the Sailing Club to give continuity to the sports and training activities that the entity has been developing for decades.

In this context, PortsIB, a public entity under the Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle, has granted temporary authorization to the Port d'Andratx Sailing Club for the use of various port spaces and infrastructure. The authorization includes 114 buoys, two floating docks, a smaller outer dock, and an office located on PortsIB property. The authorization period ranges from one to four years, depending on the specific elements authorized.

The regional minister emphasized the importance of the port remaining a leading venue for nautical sports and for training new generations of sailors. In this regard, he praised the collaboration between the new concession holder and the Sailing Club, which will allow for the continuation of activities closely linked to the maritime identity of Port d'Andratx.

The visit also served to highlight the new phase for Marina Port Andratx, which is taking over the management of facilities whose concession has been marked for more than two decades by various administrative and legal proceedings. This change brings to a close a long process that began after the expiration of the previous concession and culminated with the arrival of the new concessionaire.

Marina Port Andratx is now part of the network of marinas managed by IPM Group, a group with a large presence in the Balearic Islands, which has expressed its commitment to maintaining nautical activity, strengthening port services, and continuing to promote the port's role as a benchmark for sailing and maritime sports.

One of the most significant aspects of this new phase is the agreement reached between Marina Port Andratx and the Port d'Andratx Sailing Club, allowing the club to continue its activities from the new concessionaire's facilities. Thanks to this collaboration, the Sailing Club will continue to organize its summer schools, sailing courses, training activities, and sports programs, ensuring the continuity of work that has, for years, brought the sea and nautical sports closer to hundreds of children and young people.

The officials of the Conselleria have valued this understanding as a formula that allows the new management of the concession to be compatible with the continuity of a sporting and social activity deeply rooted in the municipality, contributing to reinforcing the nautical and sporting character of Port d'Andratx.
