The action will allow the mooring berths planned in the Marina Port Andratx concession to be put into service and will reinforce the safety conditions of the facility.

Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB), an entity dependent on the Ministry of the Sea and the Water Cycle, has authorized the execution of the necessary actions to adapt the mooring system of the outer dock of dike number 2 of Marina Port Andratx, with the objective of putting into service eleven seasonal moorings planned in the administrative concession granted to Iniciatives Portuàries Mirall de Mar de Mallorca SL (IP3M).

The project will enable the creation of eight berths at the bow, each 25 meters long and 7,5 meters wide, and three alongside berths on the outer quay. These will be operational only between June 1st and September 30th. These berths are included in the allocation of moorings stipulated in the concession granted by PortsIB for the management of the port's nautical and sports facilities.

To ensure the safety of the infrastructure and vessels, the concessionaire has submitted a technical report justifying the need to reinforce the existing mooring system. The work will consist of repositioning the six currently installed mooring blocks, placing three new 12-ton anchor blocks, installing 95 linear meters of 40-millimeter chain and sixteen mooring lines with 22-millimeter chain, as well as the necessary auxiliary equipment for its operation.

The project budget amounts to €33.536,49 and the planned execution time is one month. Technical reports from PortsIB conclude that the safety factors are adequate for the site conditions and deem the intervention necessary to guarantee the commissioning of these moorings during the summer season.

The authorization also establishes a series of operating and safety conditions, including a prior inspection of the mooring facilities before the berths are put into service and the adoption of special measures in the event of forecast winds exceeding 70 kilometers per hour. Furthermore, the work must be incorporated into the overall improvement project that the concessionaire is required to submit to PortsIB under the current concession agreement.

With this action, PortsIB is making progress in adapting the port infrastructure of Port d'Andratx to guarantee the safety of the facilities and the proper provision of nautical-sports services during the high season.
