The recognized amount totals 327.089,21 euros (VAT included), corresponding to the period between October 2024 and September 2025.
Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB), an entity dependent on the Ministry of the Sea and the Water Cycle of the Government of the Balearic Islands, has approved the payment and the extra-contractual recognition of expenses for the cleaning, conservation and maintenance services of the buildings, services and facilities of the ports under direct management on the island of Menorca, as well as for the handling of the mobile footbridge of the port of Ciutadella.
The approved agreement provides for the payment to the company FERROVIAL SERVICIOS, SA of an amount of 270.321,66 euros (excluding VAT), which amounts to 327.089,21 euros, including VAT, corresponding to the services provided during a period of twelve months, between October 1, 2024 and September 30, 2025.
This action responds to the need to guarantee the continuity of services considered essential for the proper functioning of the port facilities of Menorca, once the extension of the current contract ends on September 30, 2024 and until the start of the new contract, on October 1, 2025.
During this transitional period, and for reasons of public interest, the services continued to be provided by the same contractor and under the same economic conditions established in the initial contract, thus ensuring the optimal maintenance of port infrastructure and services.
The original contract, formalized in September 2020, included the upkeep and maintenance of PortsIB's shared facilities and services in Menorca, as well as the operation of the mobile walkway on the western dock of the outer port of Ciutadella. It was subsequently extended until September 30, 2024.
The new contract, awarded in 2025, began on October 1, 2025, which has allowed the provision of the service to be restored within the ordinary contractual framework.
With this approval, PortsIB recognizes the correct execution of the services provided during the indicated period and guarantees the coverage of the basic operating and maintenance needs of the directly managed ports of Menorca, ensuring the continuity and quality of the public port service.
