PortsIB displays a vessel from the coastal surveillance service, with 22 operational units this season

The Ministry of the Sea and the Water Cycle is participating from today in the Palma International Boat Show 2026 with an information stand from Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB), from where the work carried out by the entity in the management of the autonomous ports is made known, as well as its main lines of action in matters of sustainability, safety and coastal management.

The space functions as a public information point throughout the fair, with the aim of providing information to both professionals in the nautical sector and the public about the services, projects and initiatives promoted by PortsIB, as well as the actions planned for the season.

In this context, PortsIB is showcasing one of the vessels that make up the Balearic Islands Government's coastal surveillance, inspection, and control service. This service comprises a total of 22 vessels, all of which are fully operational this season. This deployment reinforces maritime safety, the monitoring of coastal activity, and the protection of the marine environment, with a particular focus on environmental surveillance and compliance with current regulations.

The opening day of the fair was attended by the Minister of the Sea and the Water Cycle, Juan Manuel Lafuente; the Director General of Ports and Maritime Transport, Toni Mercant; and the manager of PortsIB, Kico Villalonga, accompanied by members of the Nautical Group of the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion, who met this morning in Palma.

With this participation, the Government reinforces its presence in one of the main international showcases of the nautical sector and highlights its commitment to coordinated, sustainable and safe management of the Balearic Islands coastline.
