The Government completes the rehabilitation works of the dock and the Cap des Toll promenade in the port of Porto Cristo

The Director General of Ports and Maritime Transport and the manager of PortsIB visit the completed project, which has involved an investment of 1,1 million euros

The Director General of Ports and Maritime Transport, Toni Mercant; the manager of PortsIB, Kico Villalonga, and the councilor of the Manacor City Council, Antònia Llodrà, today visited the result of the rehabilitation works of the dock and paving of the Cap des Toll promenade, in the port of Porto Cristo, in the municipality of Manacor, an action promoted by Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB) that has involved an investment of 1.104.135,27 euros (VAT included).

The works, carried out by the company AMER E HIJOS SA, have consisted of the complete remodeling of the promenade and its services, including the reconstruction of a small section of dock at the beginning of the promenade, next to the Riuet bridge, as well as the repair of various defects and degraded areas of the dock.

The pavement of the sidewalks and the roadway has also been renewed, with the configuration of a platform to raise the level of the dock and improve accessibility.

In addition, the width of the sidewalks has been standardized to facilitate pedestrian traffic, in accordance with accessibility regulations, eliminating uneven surfaces and separation elements to homogenize the promenade with the rest of the recently renovated surrounding streets.

The project also included the complete renovation of PortsIB's existing utility lines along the dock, replacing the electricity, water, lighting, and telecommunications lines. Improvements were also made to the municipal sewage system, and conduit was installed for the future undergrounding of the currently overhead telecommunications line, in accordance with the agreement signed with the Manacor City Council.

The Director General of Ports and Maritime Transport, Toni Mercant, highlighted during the visit that "this action allows for a significant improvement in the safety, accessibility and integration of the promenade with its urban environment, while modernizing basic infrastructures of the Porto Cristo waterfront."

The Government continues to make progress in improving port infrastructure, with the aim of strengthening safety, service quality and the proper conservation of port areas in the Balearic Islands.
