The Balearic Government awards the 2026 Blue Flags and highlights the environmental improvement of the ports and beaches of the Balearic Islands

This year, 14 awards have been given to port facilities and 33 to beaches.

The Port of Sóller hosted today the official ceremony for the awarding of the 2026 Blue Flags of the Balearic Islands, presided over by the Minister of the Sea and the Water Cycle, Juan Manuel Lafuente, with the participation of the president of ADEAC, José Palacios; the general director of Ports and Maritime Transport, Antoni Mercant; the manager of PortsIB, Kico Villalonga, and representatives of the different municipalities and facilities awarded.

In this edition, PortsIB has recovered the Blue Flags for the ports of Sóller and PortoColom, which join the ports of Colònia de Sant Jordi, Cala Figuera and Ciutadella, reaching a total of five distinctions in directly managed ports in 2026. This recognition consolidates the public entity's commitment to environmental quality, safety and continuous improvement of port facilities.

At the same time, the Blue Flags corresponding to the awarded beaches in the Balearic Islands have also been presented, which this year total 33 distinguished beaches, one more than the previous year, maintaining the trend of quality and sustainability of the Balearic coast.

During the event, Councillor Lafuente highlighted the importance of joint work between administrations, technicians, managers and citizens to preserve the coastline and guarantee safe, accessible and sustainable spaces.

The councillor stressed that these awards "reflect rigorous management and a clear commitment to sustainability and the protection of the marine environment," and praised the work of the teams that work daily in the ports and beaches of the Islands.

The Blue Flag, awarded by the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC), is a distinctive mark that recognizes compliance with demanding criteria in water quality, environmental management, safety, services and environmental education, both on beaches and in port facilities.

With these distinctions, the Balearic Islands now have 14 Blue Flags in ports and 33 recognized beaches, consolidating their position as one of the communities with the most environmental recognitions in the State.
