Minister Lafuente visited the Can Pastilla Nautical Club and spent the day with the children participating in an edition that has over 5.600 registered students.

The Minister of the Sea and the Water Cycle, Juan Manuel Lafuente, visited the Can Pastilla Nautical Club today as part of the celebration of the II Setmana Blava, the program of free nautical activities aimed at fifth and sixth grade students from all the Balearic Islands.

During the visit, the councillor was accompanied by the general director of Ports and Maritime Transport, Antoni Mercant; the regional secretary of Culture and Sports, Pedro Vidalel; the manager of PortsIB, Kico Villalonga; as well as the presidents of the Balearic Sailing Federation and the Balearic Canoeing Federation, and representatives of the nautical clubs involved in the program.

The II Setmana Blava consolidates its growth this year with 5.666 students registered from 100 educational centers, a figure that represents a significant increase compared to the 3.382 students and 91 centers of the first edition.

One of the main new features of this edition is the extension of the execution period, which goes from one week to a full month, from May 18 to June 18, with the aim of facilitating the organization of educational centers and allowing greater participation.

Furthermore, the Government is covering the cost of school transport this year, so that students' journeys to the nautical clubs are also free, thus reinforcing the accessibility of the program.

The program takes place at participating yacht clubs and marinas—28 this year throughout the Balearic Islands—and combines theoretical and practical activities. Sessions include workshops on maritime safety, the marine environment, and basic navigation skills, as well as nautical activities such as sailing, canoeing, and kayaking, led by specialized instructors.

During the visit, the councilor was able to see firsthand the development of the activities and share the day with the participating students, highlighting the importance of the children's direct contact with the marine environment.

In this regard, the councilor stated that "Setmana Blava has established itself in just two years as a leading initiative for introducing young people to the sea and water sports, with increasing participation and significant involvement from schools and nautical clubs across all the islands." He also emphasized that "the expansion of the program and the provision of free school transport allow us to ensure that more and more children can enjoy this educational and sporting experience."

With this second edition, the program, promoted by the Government of the Balearic Islands through the Ministries of the Sea and the Water Cycle; Education and Universities; and Tourism, Culture and Sports, as well as by Ports de les Illes Balears, with the collaboration of the Balearic Sailing Federation and the Balearic Canoeing Federation, is consolidated as an initiative to promote the practice of nautical sports and bring the culture of the sea closer to the students of the Balearic Islands.
